Chinese Divorce Creates Canada’s Third Richest Woman

The equalization of property in China mirrors that of the law here in Canada as the starting principle is a 50/50 division of all assets and liabilities. A recent separation in Asia has resulted in one woman becoming now becoming Canada’s third richest woman due the transferring of a 24% stake in the company Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products Co.

Despite the couple mostly residing in China, the wife does hold a Canadian passport. The 24% stake is estimated to be worth around $4.7 billion and rising due to the company’s pursuits in attempting to find a vaccine for COVID-19.

On another note, the now infamous divorce of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos has also been making a few headlines as his now ex-wife, Mackenzie, has gotten much richer is the last few months for similar reasons to this case. Throughout COVID-19 Amazons shares have surged dramatically and Jeff Bezos has added nearly $56.7 billions to his wealth and Mackenzie has added $19.8 billion due to the 4% stake she received in the company during their separation.
