The Russell Alexander Law Scholarship application deadline has been extended to October 15, 2021.

Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers is offering a scholarship to high school graduates and first year university students interested in studying the law. The Russell Alexander Law Scholarship has been given each year to a high school graduate with an interest in joining or studying the legal profession to offset the high costs of a legal education. The recipient receives up to $2,000 for tuition and a $500 bonus to cover school supplies such as a new laptop, printer or notebooks. Learn more about the previous recipients.

“The legal profession serves everyone, and it should be open to everyone,” said Russell Alexander, founder of this scholarship in 2017. “We began offering this scholarship to help ensure that students who are interested in the law have an opportunity to study it.”

The scholarship is open to Canadian students who have graduated from high school in 2021. Students must have an average of 80 percent or higher and an interest in joining or studying the legal community.

Along with basic information about their educational record, applicants are asked to submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words on one of two subjects included on the application form.

“The essay is a great opportunity for students to show that they can think analytically and objectively about thorny questions in law,” added Alexander. “Apart from helping us choose a winner, they are also a great way for us to see the kind of talent that is coming from the next generation of lawyers, and we always enjoy reading them.”
