Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers has been named one of Canada’s best family law firms by The Globe and Mail.
The national newspaper’s Report on Business magazine compiled the list with independent market research provider Statista after a broad survey of legal professionals across the country on various practice areas. Only 18 firms were named among the best practicing family law.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be named to this list because our peers and even competitors are the ones who chose us,” said Alexander, founder of the Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers which has offices throughout Ontario. “It’s especially meaningful because of the difficulties we all have faced practicing family law over the last twenty months.”
The firm focuses on collaborative law, in which separating couples seek to work together and avoid costly court battles as they come to a resolution on thorny issues such as determining visitation rights with their children and splitting financial assets.
Alexander said that approach has been especially helpful during the coronavirus pandemic, when courtrooms were shut down, cases were backlogged and restrictions were raising new issues.
“Working in collaborative family law means our legal team is helping clients solve their problems rather than fighting with other lawyers in court as the bills add up,” added Alexander. “That is probably another reason why our fellow lawyers would rate us so highly — they know the value that we’re providing our clients.”
