In keeping with our previous top 10 blog formats, here is a short summary of our top picks for best divorce movies of all time.

This list is purely subjective and everyone will have their own opinions as to their favorites. Please share your opinions and suggestions for best divorce movies of all time.

After a bitter divorce, an actor disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend secret time with his children held in custody by his ex. 

Daniel (the actor) would, in real life, likely be subject to a restraining order, a court ordered psychiatric evaluation and supervised access.

A fast track lawyer can’t lie for 24 hours due to his son’s birthday wish after the lawyer turns his son down for the last time.  

Fletcher (Jim Carrey) is a career-focused lawyer and divorced father with a reputation earned from compulsive lying.  He is good with the “claw” but his job is his priority and he has a pension for lying to his son Max.

A just divorced man must learn to care for his son on his own, and then must fight in court to keep custody of him. 

A good example of the tender years doctrine of the 70’s and the alienating affect it had on fathers.  Also another story of a workaholic executive father losing custody of his son.  A pattern for Hollywood movie makers.

A married couple try everything to get each other to leave the house in a vicious divorce battle. 

Really a story of our adversarial court system gone wild.  These people should have tried collaborative practice.

A revenge-seeking gold digger marries a womanizing Beverly Hills lawyer with the intention of making a killing in the divorce.

George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones, how could you go wrong with this one?
